CURRENT MOON

The GOP and the Tea Party are for big government when it comes to personal freedoms but for small government when it comes to business regulations. -- Ben Hoffman, HuffPost commenter

These flabby, middle aged, uneducated, overwhelmingly white men are not interested in the fetus, and are actively disdainful of children, particularly small, brown children. What these evangelical, white males are incensed about is their perceived loss of control of women. It both frightens and enrages these guys that women are sexual, and are free to make choices about when and with whom to have sex. THAT is the fundamental principal behind white men being "pro-life". -- Jerry Cavanaugh, Texas Woman's University, HuffPost commenter

Lets see what Repubs/Fox have said on Obamacare.... Lies spread with over 500 million in Insurance company money.

1) Death panels, invented by the lobby for insurance companies that actually do have death panels. Repubs such as Palin were paid to spread that lie, to frighten seniors. Despicable!

2) Medicare savings from stopping the overpayments under Bush to his Private Medicare Advantage HMOs (who then paid doctors 30% less, while they were paid 15% more) and drug companies which were bankrupting Medicare, were called cuts, again to frighten seniors.

Every Ryan budget, all Repubs voted on, had these savings that extended the trust fund life by a decade. While the last two Ryan budgets would have killed Medicare immediately.

3) That Obamacare increased deficits, while in fact it lowered them.

4) That Congress was not covered under Obamacare, which they are.

5) That Obamacare was a job killer, but all studies showed it increased jobs. Note prior to Obamacare no jobs created this century.

6) That Obamacare was driving employers to part time hiring. The percentage of part time employees has dropped.

7) That small business would drop insurance plans. For the first time in 20 years the number of small businesses offering insurance has increased as they get a 50% tax credit on their insurance costs.

8) That healthcare cost would sky rocket when the rate of increase is the lowest in 50 years, and far lower (98%) than the 15-20% increases under Bush.

9) That no one would sign up, the insurance was more costly and it was not as good, doctors would not take private insurance sold from the exchange as if they can tell that!

Prior to Obamacare, with annual and life time limits and junk plans and pre-existing conditions, no one was ever really insured. All fixed by Obamacare.

10) Repubs said it reduced Medicare Benefits. It increased benefits with free preventive care and saves each seniors about $1200 per year by filling the drug Doughnut hole.

11) Have lied about Medicaid expansion, saying it cost states money, when it saves them money and lowers insurance costs for those that do buy health insurance and increases jobs in their stats and the GDP.

12) Have said doctors are dropping Medicare, when in fact 96% of doctors take Medicare and every hospital. What they are not taking is the Repub’s PRIVATE MEDICARE ADVANTAGE, which paid 30% less than Medicare and as 3 times the overhead cost of Medicare, in dealing with the insurance companies and was costing the government 15% more than Medicare… which OBAMA and DEMs stopped.

13) Have said millions lost insurance, when every year 5 million get their policy canceled and changed, about the same as this year, except this time, they had more options... And the percent uninsured dropped almost in half.

14) Tried to get the young not to get insured, promoting irresponsibility, which would drive up their parents and grandparents insurance rates and bankrupt them if they did get sick or injured bailing out their kids.
`
15) Called the Obamacare taxes the largest tax increases ever.. a LIE.. And every Repub budget keeps those taxes, not to provide healthcare, but to help reduce Mitts and the very rich taxes to ZERO.

16) Said Obamacare was paid for by a capital tax on the sale of your house. It's NOT.

17) Said Obamacare cost had increased 300%, when they have dropped.

Any statement they made has been a lie for the past 5 years as big a lie as WMDs, 2 month, 2 billion war, 24 million Bush tax cut jobs ( missed by 25 million).

The Hippopotamus

by T.S. Eliot (1888-1965)

The broad-backed hippopotamus
Rests on his belly in the mud;
Although he seems so firm to us
He is merely flesh and blood.

Flesh-and-blood is weak and frail,
Susceptible to nervous shock;
While the True Church can never fail
For it is based upon a rock.

The hippo's feeble steps may err
In compassing material ends,
While the True Church need never stir
To gather in its dividends.

The 'potamus can never reach
The mango on the mango-tree;
But fruits of pomegranate and peach
Refresh the Church from over sea.

At mating time the hippo's voice
Betrays inflexions hoarse and odd,
But every week we hear rejoice
The Church, at being one with God.

The hippopotamus's day
Is passed in sleep; at night he hunts;
God works in a mysterious way--
The Church can sleep and feed at once.

I saw the 'potamus take wing
Ascending from the damp savannas,
And quiring angels round him sing
The praise of God, in loud hosannas.

Blood of the Lamb shall wash him clean
And him shall heavenly arms enfold,
Among the saints he shall be seen
Performing on a harp of gold.

He shall be washed as white as snow,
By all the martyr'd virgins kist,
While the True Church remains below
Wrapt in the old miasmal mist.

"The Hippopotamus" is reprinted from Poems. T.S. Eliot. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1920.
